Osaka University and Rohto Pharmaceutical aim to develop regenerative therapy by stem cell technologies such as culture method, differentiation induction method, cell isolation method and evaluation technology, and its applications. On 5th December, the National Day Reception to celebrate the Birthday of His Majesty the Emperor Akihito was held at Ambassador’s Residence, the Embassy of Japan in Delhi. Rohto Pharma (India) organised a workshop on Sexual Harassment at its workplace
Sexual Harassment workshop was organised in the premise of ROHTO which was attended by all the office and sales staff of the company. This workshop familiarised employees and employers with the concept of workplace sexual harassment and the pertinent laws.
It was an interactive session between ROHTO Employees/Employer and training consultant, where in a lot of case studies were considered to make them aware about the instances that can be considered as Sexual Harassment of Women and how they can resolve it by the help of Internal Complaint Committee.
During the interaction lots of questions were asked by the employees. On this, Managing Director of Rohto Pharma (India), Mr. Koji Suzuki commented "This kind of workshop is very important for all the companies in India as it empowers and educates all individuals to make safer and healtier corporate environment".

Rohto (India) proudly sponsors the 22nd J-Asia Cup of Football 2018 to be held in India.
J-Asia Cup of Football is a single-day tournament organised by the Football Clubs of Japan and takes place around all the Asian countries. First held in Bangkok in 1998, the tournament witnessed 3 teams- Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand. The tournament continued for 21 times and now it was time for India to host it for the first time in its history.
This year, total of 15 teams gathered from countries like South Korea, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Myanmar, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, India and UAE.
Each team got the opportunity to play at least 4 games to determine the champion of the this year. The tournament was organised in Qhub by Quantum Sports in Gurugram and the footballers kicked off the game at 7:30 A.M and played till dusk.
After covering their jerseys in mud and sweat, Saigon Japan Football Club from Ho-Chi-Min city were the proud champions of the tournament.
Indian teams that participated were, FC Kickers and Delhi Football Club from Delhi, FC Kogenkikou from Bengaluru, and Bombay Japan from Mumbai.
Deep Heat, became the partners for FC Kickers and manifested its support by healing the footballers' muscles and joints against any fatigue and pain to help them play better and longer in the ground.

ROHTO and Shionogi enter into License Agreement on "Cellular and Tissue-based Products" Candidate ADR-001
Rohto Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. and Shionogi & Co., Ltd. enter into License Agreement regarding "Cellular and Tissue-based Products" Candidate ADR-001
OSAKA, Japan, September 13, 2018 - Rohto Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Osaka, Japan, hereafter "Rohto") today announced Rohto and Shionogi & Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Osaka, Japan; hereafter "Shionogi") have entered into license agreement for clinical development and commercialization of ADR-001 for the treatment of liver cirrhosis in Japan. Liver cirrhosis is a pathological condition caused by degeneration of hepatocytes and subsequent fibrosis which leads to severe deterioration of liver function. It is known that liver cirrhosis is the common risk factor of liver cancer. There are only symptomatic treatments for advanced liver cirrhosis, and the effective new treatment is necessary.
ADR-001, discovered by Rohto, is one of the "Cellular and Tissue-based Products" which is prepared from mesenchymal stromal cells (MSC) derived from allogeneic adipose tissue. Adipose tissue contains many MSC and is less invasive to obtain MSC than bone marrow. From these characteristics, it is expected that ADR-001 can be manufactured and stocked on a large scale and this treatment can be provided smoothly to patients. Rohto is currently conducting a Phase I /II study in patients with decompensated liver cirrhosis.
Under the terms of the agreement, Shionogi will be responsible for clinical development after Phase I /II study and commercialization of ADR-001 for liver cirrhosis in Japan. Rohto will be responsible for supplying the product. Shionogi will make an upfront payment to Rohto, and Rohto will be eligible to receive additional development milestones and royalties.

Adverse Effects Of Various Air Pollutants For Human Skin

With the rising population and industrialization, pollution level in the air is also increasing and getting worse. Nowadays, the attention has been focused on the effect of air pollutants on skin diseases, and people around the world are eager to reveal its molecular basis. So, to understand the effect of air pollutants on the skin, we evaluated air pollutants to normal human epidermal keratinocytes (NHEKs).
In this study, we used four air pollutants i.e. Vehicle Exhaust Particles, Urban Aerosols, Gobi Kosa Dust and Cender Pollen. In order to understand the effect to skin in detail, we also analyzed the gene expression in NHEKs after addition of air pollutants.
Our test results indicated that the air pollutants induced adverse effects for human skin.

Apart from on-site participation, we also invited entries from our social channel – Facebook, through which one participant was finalized as a wild card entry.
The contest was all about crowning intellect, social responsibility, charm, and a great personality together. So, the second phase of the contest included a photoshoot of all the shortlisted participants and then they shared the photo on their Facebook profile. They had to get the maximum likes, share and comments on their photographs. Rohto has invested $5 million (Rs 32.2 crores) in SastaSundar Healthbuddy Limited and is likely to make further investments as the business progresses.
